Each and every system of the house demands utmost care and evaluation every time you deem it necessary to get a remodel job. Hidden systems such as electrical and plumbing systems need extensive inspection if the old equipment is to be used to make sure they are able to cope with additional equipment or appliances should they be necessary. Replacing old and worn wires that have cracked insulation would save you a lot of time and money preventing them from failing in the future. Plumbing pipes and Gas pipes should also be checked for possible problems when they are visible to prevent hazardous leaks and damage they can cause.
Electrical breakers, fuse boxes and GFI outlets should be periodically checked fro proper function and replaced with same rated fixtures to prevent fire and maintain their effective operation modes. Working with such house systems is easier during re-models for they are exposed and clearly visible allowing proper access to asses their overall health.

One other thing you ought to think about before buying a new carpet is the amount of time you can spend cleaning it. Can you make time for cleaning it once or twice a week? Can you give it a thorough cleaning every semester? Carpets are prone to catching dirt, dust, mold, dander and other allergens. They can also house fleas from pets. Periodic cleaning keeps your carpet looking good and keeping the least level of allergens. Pick a vacuum cleaner with a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter.

It is a wise move for a homeowner who is renovating to have his house inspected before letting go of his money. It is good to have an independent inspector who will review the completed remodeling per your construction specifications. He will check both the
workmanship and totality of the job done. The number of inspections to be done on your renovation job will depend on the financing scheme agreed with the lender (this is especially true with big projects). But in general, two compulsory inspections will be done to the site while renovations are being done. Local Inspection is usually done at the end of a construction phase like after completing the plumbing system. Inspectors will determine whether the job done, adheres to building codes and other local government requirements. Should the job done fails inspection, then it needs to be corrected and a follow-up inspection will be required – which also entails a re-inspection fee. It is imperative that you, as the owner will be around during these inspections and re-inspections so you can ask questions. Lender’s Inspection. If your renovations need bank financing, this lending company will require an inspection. They will come usually at the end of a construction phase to check if the money loaned was indeed used for what it was intended for at the pre approved amount per your construction contract. They do not check for quality just like the local inspectors. They only need to be assured that the money loaned was properly used in the project.

With today’s economy, most people are very careful of how they spend their money. You don’t have to sacrifice your home’s style, however, by following some simple tips to updating your home’s look:
1. Update your floor’s look. You can change a room’s look by replacing your worn-out laminates with new tiles, installing new hardwood floors. Also, since you now have a better idea of the amount of traffic that goes through the room, you can now choose flooring that would be easier to clean and more durable, depending on usage.
2. Change your lighting. An accent that is usually overlooked, light fixtures can do a lot towards updating your room’s look. You can even help the environment and save on electric bills by choosing the newer energy-efficient models.
3. Replace your old wallpaper. If it’s peeling and dated, then please, throw it away and replace it. You’ll have a lot of fun choosing new patterns, and you don’t even have to be committed to using wallpaper again. You can repaint your walls if you prefer.
