Veranda

What’s nice about building your house in an open space — atop a hill or near the beach – is that you get a steady supply of fresh air 24/7. All you need to have is that soft gust of sweet air breezing round and round your veranda and you’re it for the day.
If your house is located by the beach, you can build a veranda facing the water and take advantage of the generous breeze that you can have – for free.
Wind chimes are among the favorite house decors. People just love the sound that they make whenever the wind blows. You can hang a string of chimes in your veranda along with a hammock or a rattan chair to give your house a pristine touch.

Obviously, while the bathroom is being remodeled, the whole family cannot use this part of the house. The ongoing construction will take several days or even weeks and it can cause great inconvenience to everyone especially if there is only bathroom in the house.
The best you can do about the situation is by planning the remodeling schedule carefully. Have the work done during summer break when the kids are spending their break in a camp. If they are not joining a camp, perhaps you can send them in the meantime to your parents or friends’ place to stay for several days until the bathroom is done.

Moldings

When our house was being built, I argued no end with my husband over this simple thing: moldings.
I really wanted to have moldings on the ceiling and would settle for no less, but he insisted it was not necessary because anyway the painter would just coat the corners of the ceiling with darker shade to camouflage the absence of wood moldings.
The moldings gave the house a lovely accent they look like art works. But what I like most with having these fixtures in the house is that the walls don’t look very bare, even if there are no hangings or frames. I was so happy I got what I wanted and my husband never regretted granting my wish.

Lighting systems can give your room a different character. The decors for instance can look differently by changing the color and softening the intensity of the lights. A subdued, soft toned light creates a romantic ambience. Full strong lights give gaiety and warmth to the room. Blinking lights of course, suggest fun and festive mood.
Dimmers and mood lighting allow you to achieve the best effect from your lighting system if you like giving your room varied moods every now and then. Dimmers are the in thing today because not only do they enhance the look of your room but they also break the monotony of normal lighting system. They can even be used to incorporate nature in your living space while they help you create either night or day time theme depending on your present mood.

Jazzing up your house

In remodeling a house, the exteriors are often taken for granted. And unfortunately, after every work has been done inside the house, there is nothing more left from the budget for use in the exteriors. In this situation, here are some tips to refurbish your home exteriors at very little cost:
- Put up a lush green garden. Get rid of weeds and dead wood. Trim the bushes and arrange the potted plants.
- Clean the windows, sills and doors. From the leftover paint used inside the house, repaint window and door moldings and frames.
• Place a line of potted plants by the frontage windows. This will create a pretty neat view as well as camouflage faded paints and flaking walls.
• Keep the grass trimmed and watered all the time. A healthy looking lawn can jazz up the total look of your home.
